bring your special memories to life

To provide you with the highest level of detail as to how commissions are completed, the process involved, I set out below further information as to how I work. Commissioning a custom portrait should be something special and it goes without saying that the final piece is ultimately all important and will hopefully exceed your expectations, but the commissioning of a piece should go well beyond that, to encompass the whole process so that everyone who honours me with a commission can feel special from the moment you say hello, until the postman knocks on your door.

let 's have a chat

During our initial conversation I will be able to provide you with information regarding price, photos, composition, size, and my current schedule which will enable a discussion as to when a commission piece can be scheduled and completed. I will provide you with full information concerning initial deposit payments, though non-refundable, secure your commission. My portrait work is completed from photographs provided by the customer. In simple terms the higher the quality the photograph the better the final piece. I can provide you with advice and assistance as to the type of photograph (more information can be found in the photo guide).

materials

Each of my commissions are completed using the highest quality art materials, my coloured pencil work is completed on Strathmore Bristol Paper, using Caran D’ache Luminance pencils, with additional use of Faber Castel Polychromos, both of which have a high standard of lightfastness. My oil painting work is conducted with Daley & Rowney Oil Paints and are painted on 0.3mm thick MDF board. updates

I send regular updates throughout the completion of the portrait. The updates give indication as the progress of the piece, but also allows the opportunity for comments and ideas by the commissioner to be made to ensure complete satisfaction. Updates include photographs and occasional small videos to provide a better representation of progress as photographic angles may sometimes distort proportions or colours.

postage

Prior to the forwarding of a final invoice, a commissioner’s approval is always sort. This is the time where any final minor amendments can be made. Once the final invoice is discharged then subject to waiting for a piece to completely dry and is safe to package (Oil Paintings), then your unique piece of art will be sealed with a specialist art fixative to ensure you art lasts many years to come. Each piece is packaged with the upmost care, individually by myself, to include bespoke Certificates of Authenticity, Care Instructions, and a personal hand written thank you by myself.

All my commission pieces are sent with top priority postage and associated insurance. The costs of which will be included in a final invoice. It is always my aim to follow up on my commissions, to hopefully receive testimonials which you will have no doubt have seen, form an important part of my website and insight for others who may commission me.
